Welcome to Rick Hickmann Art Glass!

I hope to share with you my love of stained glass. I view my glass work as an art form so every design is my own creation and I do not repeat designs in my windows. I enjoy the challenge of creating a work that becomes a part of the personality of the clients and also fits in with the interior decorating. Feel free to make comments, ask questions, or critique any of my postings. If you click on the slideshow to the right you can view the pictures in a larger format.

Sam and Barbara Roth- Concord, California 2007
The Roth's had this old wood window frame and wanted some stained glass in each section. The challenge in this project was that it was going to be hung on a wall, with no backlighting. Not prime conditions for stained glass. I had to carefully choose glass that had enough character on its own to make it work. Here I have one example on a wall and the other sitting in a window to show how backlighting changes the window. I am pleased with the results even though I was not convinced stained glass would work well hanging on a wall.

It works very well! I know that stained glass shown on a wall is a big departure from the norm, but that is what I really wanted in that space...can't explain why.

Rick did an amazing job of meeting my requests and creating a beautiful piece of stained glass art. We Love It!!
